  • Phthalate Diacetate Cellulose Overview
    Tenite™ and Plastiloid™ Overview

Both Tenite CA and Plastiloid CA pellets contain up to 50% bio-based content and utilize diethyl phthalate as a plasticizer. These materials are classic cellulose acetates, widely used across various industries. Both brands are renowned for their exceptional mechanical properties, with variations in plasticizer content leading to distinct performance characteristics.
Classic phthalate-based cellulose acetate plastics offer outstanding and balanced properties, including toughness, hardness, strength, surface gloss, transparency, and a pleasant tactile feel. The mechanical properties vary among different grades depending on the plasticizer content to meet diverse application needs. A lower plasticizer content results in a harder surface, higher thermal resistance, increased strength, and better dimensional stability. Conversely, a higher plasticizer content enhances the material's impact resistance, elasticity, and flowability at low temperatures, making it suitable for specific injection molding applications.
In processing environments with higher thermoplastic stress requirements, Tenite is typically recommended over Plastiloid.

  • Non-Phthalate Diacetate Cellulose Overview
    PRO-CELL® Overview

PRO-CELL® cellulose acetate pellets are free from any phthalate plasticizers, representing an upgraded, eco-friendly cellulose acetate material. Through technological innovation, it maintains the performance of traditional phthalate-based cellulose acetate while offering a higher bio-based content for sustainable development.
Developed by Eastman Mazzucchelli Plastics (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (EMPCL), PRO-CELL® is a non-phthalate cellulose acetate made from renewable resources. This natural polymer is derived from cellulose, the most widely distributed organic renewable compound in nature. Starting from cotton and wood pulp fibers, PRO-CELL® achieves excellent performance and processability through esterification and the addition of natural plasticizers and custom additives, with a bio-based content exceeding 60%. The product is recyclable and suitable for various reprocessing technologies. Following a 6-month biodegradation test using the composting method conducted by a professional laboratory recognized internationally, PRO-CELL®CA pellets have been certified as biodegradable in accordance with ISO 14855 standards.
PRO-CELL® retains the outstanding mechanical properties (toughness, hardness, strength, surface gloss, transparency, and pleasant tactile feel) and processing capabilities (extrusion, hot pressing, injection molding) of traditional phthalate cellulose acetate materials. Its natural raw materials endow the product with a range of unique functionalities that are hard to find in synthetic resins:
    ●Brightness and clarity
    ●Excellent coloring possibilities
    ●High impact resistance
    ●Excellent electrical insulation performance
    ●Superior chemical resistance
●High light stability and aging resistance
    ●Comfortable feel and surface self-smoothness
●Outstanding acoustic properties with sound characteristics similar to solid wood
    ●Excellent compatibility with PC lenses

    Renew Overview

Eastman Mazzucchelli Plastics (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (EMPCL) obtained ISCC PLUS certification on July 1, 2020, marking a significant milestone in the production and sale of cellulose acetate pellets containing recycled content certified by ISCC. This achievement is based on the use of Eastman Acetate Renew as raw material, composed of 60% bio-based content and 40% certified recycled content. Through innovative Carbon renewal technology, the quality and performance of Eastman Acetate Renew is indistinguishable from the material made with non-recycled feedstocks.
The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a globally applicable certification system for sustainability, encompassing agricultural and forestry biomass, circular and bio-based materials, and renewable energy. ISCC PLUS is a recognized standard for recycled and bio-based materials, providing supply chain traceability and verifying that companies comply with environmental and social standards as well as quality balance calculations.
The sustainable components of TENITE™ acetate renew pellets and PLASTILOID™ acetate renew pellets contain up to 50% bio-based content and 27% certified recycled content. When higher sustainability requirements are needed for materials, we recommend using PRO-CELL® acetate renew, which has a bio-based content exceeding 60% and achieves a 27% certified recycled content through advanced carbon regeneration technology. These products not only reflect our commitment to environmental protection but also provide customers with outstanding performance and sustainable development solutions.

    * Biobased components are determined according to ASTM D6866-22 Method B
** Recycled ingredients comply with ISCC certified material mass balance principles
